What's your business, and who are your customers?
School no longer works as planned. More students are pushed out, and we want to help. Schoolio is a choice for parents and students for a high-quality K8 curriculum, electives, and personal growth. We have over 4000 parents in our first year, and our education metaverse will help millions of students globally.
Tell us about yourself
This business is inspired by my kids and my own background. We left Singapore in shame when I failed the national test - I am the kid we are helping with Schoolio.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Recruiting an amazing team has been the key to my success. I know my strengths, and I play to them. Find parents and staff who can bring their strengths to the team and how we scale and grow.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
You are 'always on,' and finding balance, space to think, and be creative is a struggle. I also have ADHD, and while that helps most days, some days, I struggle.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Speak to your customers often. Understand how your solution transforms lives, not just solve a program. Find a personal reason to get you through the tough days.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I come from a strict South Asian background, and school has always been the only way to predict my potential, and it always let me down. I have a chance to make a change in that stereotype, and I am grateful for the opportunity. I also produce Canada's largest South Asian music festival in Toronto - DESIFEST.ca.
