What's your business, and who are your customers?
Scentual Flames is a retail candle company that sells eco-friendly soy-blended candles. Scentual Flames caters to the average working person who is looking for an escape from their worries by stimulating their senses with non-toxic fragrances.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Katalia Williams Wiley. I am a registered nurse and candle maker. I’ve been making candles as a hobby since my teenage years but got serious with candle-making in 2017 due to family and friends asking me to make some for them. What motivates me is producing high-quality products and seeing positive reactions from customers. It motivates me to keep going.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is being able to produce products that people enjoy and having fun while doing it.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Being a business owner has its pros and cons. Some challenges are limited funding and financial management. Having a dream and a plan is a good way to start, but having proper finances can get things rolling.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Stay focused.
- Get organized.
- Provide great service.
