Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Anzlovar, Founder of Sarah Gold Nutrition, LLC, located in Medfield, Ma, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Sarah Gold Nutrition, LLC is a virtual private practice that helps moms ditch dieting and learns to eat to feel their best without stress. We help moms reclaim a healthy relationship with food and their body so they can stop worrying about what to eat and free up brain space for all of the other important things in their life. Through this work, moms gain energy, feel more confident about their food choices, and create healthy habits that they can model to their children.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a registered dietitian, certified intuitive eating counselor, and mom of 2 young boys - 3.5 and 10 months at this interview. I've been helping women find food freedom and build sustainable healthy habits for over ten years. But when I became a mom, I realized just how mentally taxing parenting is, which is then paired with this toxic bounce-back culture for moms, making moms feel like they have to do it all. Take care of their family, do everything they did before becoming a mom, and then they are supposed to "bounce back" to a body they had before kids. This leaves moms with an even greater mental burden, constantly worrying about what they are eating and how it will affect their body, which often results in cutting calories or trendy fad diets that leaves moms feeling even more depleted and overwhelmed. I am incredibly passionate about helping moms get out of that cycle of dieting and helping them reclaim a healthy relationship with food. They aren't thinking about food all day long or feeling guilt about the food they ate while also nourishing their bodies. Hence, they have the energy that motherhood requires.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My clients' successes are my biggest accomplishments. I celebrate every small and big win along the way with each and every individual I work with.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The constant hustle. I always want to do more (and always more to do!), and it's hard to take time off. I'm learning that I have to because otherwise, I burn out, and if I'm burnt out, I can't continue to show up for my clients.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't wait until you're ready. You'll never start. Figure things out along the way.
  2. Know that you can't please everyone. Find your passion and your niche, and stick to it. When I finally got focused on helping moms in this particular space, that's when things started to grow.
  3. Set up systems from the start. You might think you don't need them when you're small, but the more you can streamline from the beginning, the easier it will be down the road.
