What's your business, and who are your customers?
I currently run a mental health practice that provides individual and family therapy to diverse BIPOC communities.
Tell us about yourself
I am a clinical school psychologist with over ten years of experience in the field of education. I started my business three years ago because I saw the damaging effects of children being misdiagnosed and mistreated by the healthcare system. I am motivated each day because I am able to provide life-saving diagnoses to children and adults. I love my work because it is culturally sensitive and meets the needs of my community.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment would be starting a training division within my company so that I can train future therapists and psychologists like myself.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Knowing when to scale and how to continue your growth.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure your business aligns with your values and who you are as a person.
- When you focus on being exceptional at what you do and the service you provide, the money/sales will follow.
- Always ask yourself, how will my business lead to leaving my legacy in this world?
