Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Daniel Levy, Co-Founder of SalesAdvantage Solutions, located in Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

SalesAdvantage Solutions Inc is an outsourced Sales and Marketing department for Coaches, Course Creators, and any High-Value item/investment. Our goal is to take the "boring work" such as advertising, cold calls, prospecting, qualifying, and closing out of the business owners' hands so that they can focus on solving the problems that got them into business in the first place!

Tell us about yourself

I've been interested in business in one form or another. My first "business" was selling magazines in Kindergarten, and I didn't even realize it. It was just something that came naturally and quickly to me. My father is an entrepreneur, and his father is before him. They escaped gunshots and prison sentences to get here from Cuba. My biggest motivation is waking up daily and living my dream off of what they sacrificed for me.

Growing up, I looked at being an entrepreneur the same way other kids might have looked at playing in the NBA or becoming an astronaut. So when I wake up every day to do my work, I have a blast. It all comes easy, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is in the model of our business itself. In the post-pandemic era, we see many companies peddling snake oil and products that don't truly make sense to the consumer.

What we do at SalesAdvantage not only raises our clients' bottom line but also makes their life easier and simplifies their business. The nitty-gritty of finding and converting clients is an essential part of any business. Still, it's also the part most business owners enjoy the least. We gladly take that off of their hands with our proposition and allow them to do what they do best.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Owning a business is a bit like reverse algebra. You're confronted with problems and get to solve them for X. The difference is that the reward for X is usually just more problems and a bigger question than you had before in business! So it's like an ever-expanding tree of more and more problems to solve but each more consequential and rewarding than the last. Sometimes, it can feel like a grind, but that's the growth process.

The most challenging part of owning a business is the relentless creativity required to continue with that growth. There are no rules or guidelines for the Algebra of your specific industry, there may be infinite resources for those that have grown their own business, and they will help. Still, the answers that YOUR business requires can only be provided by you.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. HAVE FUN... the day-to-day can get monotonous and boring but never forget what you got into this for. It's a privilege to be your boss and run your own thing. Most will never experience it so remind yourself of that every day. Crack jokes in the meetings and laugh off your mistakes... Not only will it be easier for you to get through every day with that attitude, but colleagues and clients will want to work with you more as they feel that energy.
  2. RESPECT YOUR BUSINESS AS YOU RESPECT YOURSELF... If you wake up every morning, brush your teeth, and comb your hair, you have some respect for yourself and your appearance. Allocate that same respect to your business. Substance matters, but if the exterior appearance of your content isn't clean and crisp many people will never get to see the substance. Make sure grammar is proper, and names are capitalized. Never have a typo or a wrong date on something. Always send emails with an appropriate signature. Hire graphic designers to make sure content is up to visual standards. These may seem like little things, and there are many more, but if you care to make sure nothing in your sphere looks amateurish, you can ensure you will never be treated like one!
  3. YOU CAN'T LOSE... There's no final buzzer in business. The ref will never blow the whistle to end the fight. You can always keep going. Money may get tight. You may need a second job, but as long as you're living and breathing, you can make this work. That's one of the beautiful things about this country. Keep this mindset, and there's no such thing as failure. There's no such thing as taking an L. There are only little wins and big wins. The big win might be a closed deal or lots of money, but the little success will be a lesson learned. That mindset takes so much pressure off you and allows you to worry more about getting things done and having fun.
