Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Raschelle Sabourin, founder of Sabourin Nutrition Consulting, located in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I provide virtual 1:1 nutrition counseling with a focus on helping my clients improve their relationship with food and their body. Many of my clients struggle with binge and emotional eating. I also provide support for individuals through eating disorder recovery and disordered eating. Your relationship with food is such an important aspect of your life and can affect so many areas of your life. After my clients receive the support, they're able to have more energy to focus on relationships, family life, hobbies, or whatever their interests are. Food would previously preoccupy much of their thoughts. My clients are able to get to a place where they are more at peace with food, their bodies and are, in general, happier.

Tell us about yourself

I've worked as a dietitian for over ten years. Throughout my career, I always found the most enjoyment from working directly with clients. I also used to struggle with my relationship with food as well. My clients motivate me and give me the drive to keep going. To see them succeed and be a part of their journey is very rewarding. I love helping people and feeling like I'm making a difference in people's lives.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Mindset is a huge part of being successful as a business owner. When things are challenging, or I have an obstacle, I've pushed through and found a solution. Being a part of my client's journey to having a good relationship with food is also huge for me. It brings me so much happiness to see my clients succeed.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I have a lot of ideas and visions for my business. I try to prioritize and give myself the patience to meet my goals. Sometimes it's a struggle to not have everything that I envision be done right away.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start with small steps and set small goals.
  2. Just start! We're all more capable than we believe sometimes.
  3. Take messy action; things don't need to be perfect to start.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I'm working on creating an Intuitive Eating 3-month program. This is meant for people that struggle with binge/emotional eating. The program will help clients that are looking to make peace with food and their body.
