What's your business, and who are your customers?
I run a coach training academy, and our customers are individuals and organisations who want to invest in their coaching capacity through online programs, accredited diplomas, and CPD and bespoke programs.
Tell us about yourself
I decided to set up my own business seven years ago as I was a new parent and struggling to combine my senior leadership role in education with looking after my daughter: I also wanted to follow my passion. I'm motivated by the change that I see in others and the ripple effect that we have through training coaches, which makes a real difference in people's lives.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Hitting seven figures in a year in 2021 was huge as it made me realise the impact that we were having.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
It can feel lonely, especially when you're making big decisions. I've found building out my own support network is so key.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get really clear on the financials and use these to guide decision-making.
- Start and test: remember that everything is data and being able to test is critical.
- Get support: invest in small programs/memberships/networking where you can meet people at a similar stage to you.
