I offer a wide range of unisex tees, hats, accessories, crews, and hoodies that include everything from slogans and sayings, icons and symbols, and letter graphics to allow our community to channel their emotional vibrations in a laid-back way. Designed & handmade with love in Canada.

Tell us about yourself

Hello everyone, I’m Paula! Owner, designer & maker behind ruled by the moon. I design cute and meaningful apparel focused on mental health and self-love. I started this fulfilling dream of mine in 2021 as a medium to cope with my anxiety. I’m constantly in awe of people and their emotions. I wanted to create an approachable brand inspired by positive messages that I hope others can relate to and share to live a meaningful and magical life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating something from nothing and allowing myself to go out of my comfort zone to follow a dream has been a big accomplishment as a person. As a business owner, my biggest accomplishment has been building a culture I can be proud of and creating a safe space for everyone. I've connected with many wonderful people during the past year - customers and fellow small business owners - and the amount of love and support we give each other are truly inspiring. I love to receive messages from strangers expressing how the content I share on social media or the products I design resonate with them and make them feel seen or inspired. It makes my heart happy to connect with people this way.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I face many challenges, from staying motivated during slow seasons to staying consistent in marketing and social media. Sometimes I need a break from consuming so much content myself but, at the same time, I know I need to keep connecting with people and engaging with others to grow my brand. Finding that balance is quite personally challenging.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do everything with love and honesty.
  2. Start simple and allow yourself to grow and evolve.
  3. Ask for help :) You are not alone.
