Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Steven Rotblatt, CEO of Rubber Chicken Cards, located in Newbury Park, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a 22 years in business online animated eCard and print card company with customers all over the world.

Tell us about yourself

I was a greeting card designer for Recycled Paper Greetings and, when the internet came of age, created a new company that was all online. Rubber Chicken Cards allows me and my amazing troop of actors and animators to use all the skills we have worked hard to acquire: writing, acting, drawing, and animating. It is still a blast, after 22 years, to know that we are making people laugh all over the world. This minute we have people from Latin America, Norway, the US, and Australia on the site laughing and having a good time.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would say the reach of our product as a result. And as for the process, being around great voice-over actors, the best in the world, amazing animators, and business people to help with the marketing.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The usual stresses of making the product and the website better and trying to find the sweet spot for our subscribers so that they keep coming back and helping with the bills.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Just do it. If you believe in yourself and what you are doing, the path to success will become clear. There is so much free information out there, and when you can afford it, some amazing paid folks to help you out. Keep moving forward and work smart.
