What's your business, and who are your customers?
I coach executives to be highly effective leaders, facilitate peer learning circles and consult with organizations to improve their culture, develop leaders at all levels, and ensure their boards demonstrate good governance.
Tell us about yourself
After working in advertising, academia, and consulting, I wanted to be my own boss. I love the work I do with clients, and helping them create their own successes is a great motivator for me.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My business is 20+ years old, and I've been able to keep it relevant by continuing to evolve the model to meet the changing needs of my clients and the marketplace.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The need to play multiple roles to get the work done until your revenue stream increases and you can hire people to do the administrative work so you can concentrate on your core business activities.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get some expert advice from colleagues (and friends, if appropriate) to ensure the relevance of the concept.
- Create a simple business plan to guide you.
- Consider joining a mastermind group to get ongoing feedback and advice.
