What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hello, my name is Amanda, and my business is called Roselo Candles. I handmake soy wax candles in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. My customers are people primarily in the 18-35 age bracket who enjoy sustainability, candles that smell great, and multi-functional decor items.

Tell us about yourself

I am 25 years old, originally from Brooklyn, New York but currently reside in Memphis, TN. I moved to Memphis right out of college for an IT job. I first started Roselo Candles about a year into the pandemic and lockdown. My job went fully remote, and I started to go stir-crazy and needed some sort of creative outlet. I've always wanted to learn how to make candles, so I decided to teach myself. My motivation is the look on customers' faces when they see the variety of shapes I offer and when they pick them up to smell them and absolutely fall in love!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment so far as a business owner is being published in a local newspaper.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is being responsible for every aspect of your business, from product creation to testing and marketing to keeping track of financials.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
