What's your business, and who are your customers?
The business is called Ronatay, and it is a staffing company that focuses primarily on power and utility providers. One of our customers from the Northeast US is Public Service Electric & Gas Co (PSE&G), which operates a large percentage of the power industry in New Jersey and New York.
Tell us about yourself
I was working for a staffing company and saw an opportunity to expand outside of the purview of where the company was staffing at that time. The focus was primarily on healthcare companies, and I saw a big opportunity to pivot and get granular with the power and utility world.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment would be bringing my company’s revenue from $0 into the millions.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
While growing our revenue from $0 to millions was my biggest accomplishment, it was also one of the hardest. My determination, hard work, and perseverance helped me find the success I was looking for. In addition, another one of the hardest things I’ve done as a business owner was creating a good company culture where people want to work for you and enjoy it along with their work. While that is always the goal, successfully implementing it is another thing entirely.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The top tips I can share with anyone looking to succeed as an entrepreneur are to prepare, think outside the box, and differentiate your business from competitors. You want to try and prepare for what you think can happen, as well as what you think won’t happen. Covering your bases is important. Thinking outside the box will help with this. It will open you up to opportunities and protect you from potential missteps. Finally, differentiating your business from others is key, as most new businesses already exist in some form 90% of the time. Highlighting how you and your company are different can make all the difference in the marketplace.
