Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rogier Rijnja, Co-Founder of Find Mino, located in Bainbridge Island, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Findmino.com offers career support for career seekers, their coaches, educators, and parents. Our products are a (free) career database that's continuously refreshed and future-focused to inspire people to choose the right path. It fills the gap of broadly used career databases that typically run behind and are uninspiring to play with. In addition, we offer (paid) online classes, blogs, and reels to help people be better equipped for a happy life and career. We use @thecareerguys as a supporting channel to share our personal backgrounds in higher ed and international business.

Tell us about yourself

Jeff Leinaweaver and I work on this together. We are motivated by seeing that career support for (especially young) people is running behind big time. The very low engagement rate of people at work (about ⅓ only is engaged according to Gallup), as well as trends of growing burnout at a young age and mid-career, tell us that the support system in place doesn't do it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Getting the site launched a few years ago!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Marketing your product to the right audience.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Test, test, test your ideas first before investing in development or creation.
  2. Make a realistic financial plan. Make sure to put enough money into marketing!
  3. Make it crystal clear why you are doing what you are doing, and remind yourself of it again and again.
