What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a professional speaker, author, and success coach. My clients are Fortune 500 companies, associations, and individuals who want to build a resilient mindset.

Tell us about yourself

At Loyola Marymount University, I was a Division 1 collegiate athlete despite having a physical challenge that affects all four limbs. My business began when organizations asked me to share my story with their audience. The business and my message evolved from there.

I have been speaking for over thirty-five years and what motivates me is the opportunity to make a difference in someone's life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Writing a best-selling book and giving over 4,500 presentations in twenty-two countries. Most importantly, despite a busy schedule, I have a wonderful relationship with my wife, four kids, and three grandchildren.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Like most business owners, it's how to turn change into opportunity.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. When you decrease excuses, you will increase results.
  2. Resist underestimating yourself and overestimating your competition.
  3. Don't let acceptable get in the way of acceptable.
