What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am in the business of helping individuals write great books, make money and impact the world.
Tell us about yourself
I had an interesting road before driving toward book publishing, as my background isn't in this area. Prior to this, I work in the field of Human Services, catering to children and families. I wrote a book in 2007, which led to people asking me how did I write and publish my book. I began teaching groups for free, and my consistency in doing so morphed into a full-service business. What motivates me is knowing that I am assisting and guiding individuals to fulfill the dream and desire of becoming an author.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is helping, teaching, and coaching countless individuals to write their books.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I can share a list, but I think working to stay fresh and relevant is hard, especially with so much misinformation floating around.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't start a business based on emotions.
- Be simple but unique, and stay true to that space.
- Work to establish a strong referral base before you launch your business and while running one. That strong base will sustain you financially in the long run.
