What's your business, and who are your customers?
I work with businesses and leaders to tell stories that connect with the people that matter most, starting with three core training areas: storytelling for business, active media relations, and leadership storytelling.
Tell us about yourself
I've been a communicator and storyteller for 25+ years, serving many organizations, both profit and non-profit. Working with leaders and their teams to understand and incorporate communications and content into their businesses, leading to increased growth and greater connection with the people that matter most, are just a couple of examples of what's truly motivating.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
No matter the size or scope of the organization or business, becoming a consistent and reliable part of my client's teams through proven counsel, training, and innovation.
On a more personal note, one accomplishment I'm proud of is the release of my first business book this past June - Storytelling for Business: The Art and Science of Creating Connection in the Digital Age.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Owning and leading a small business comes with tremendous responsibilities that sometimes can feel a bit isolating. Remembering you're not alone and networking with other entrepreneurs is a tremendous resource for mentorship and motivation.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find something you truly love to do (and are good at), or at the very least like a lot, as that passion will motivate and sustain you over the long haul.
- Don't be afraid to try new things out and make mistakes, as they teach us how to innovate and remain resilient.
- Create a network of remarkable entrepreneurs and leaders that you can guide, mentor, and inspire you.
