What's your business, and who are your customers?
RLM Herbal Ideals, LLC is a company focused on improving the community's health using a holistic approach with the support of herbal products. The majority of our customers are individuals who are seeking plant-based therapies to heal their bodies, mind, and environment.
Tell us about yourself
I used home remedies and herbs to keep my children healthy. I provided herbal care to family, friends, and coworkers over the years. After a sentinel life event, I decided to start a business. Each day using herbal products to support the many systems of the body. Sometimes clients come to me because the healthcare system treats symptoms, not taking into account other factors that may be contributing to their state of health. When I work with someone, the motivation comes when they tell me they feel better.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Good question! I would have to say just taking the leap to do service and become a business owner. The first step is the best step. The first client, the first sale, the first person to thank you for resolving their issue with a multifactor life modification approach that is sustainable.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing is learning the regulatory, financial, and, for holistic herbalists, complementing conventional medicine.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Research the business thoroughly. Is there a niche for your business?
- Learn the government requirements for setting up the business; a legal/ tax advisor is invaluable.
- If you do not know or have a bookkeeper/CPA take a class or use commercial, financial software. They make it easier to manage business finances. Your tax preparer will thank you.
