What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a professor, an author, and a speaker, seeing to have an impact on leaders in business. My main customers are executive education participants, conference attendees, and C Suite executives.

Tell us about yourself

The business emerged from my fascination with how large organizations deal with uncertainty and change. I'm motivated by helping leaders steer organizations toward their futures in a positive way.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Developing the groundbreaking concept of discovery-driven planning and the other tools and frameworks that help with strategy and leadership in uncertain conditions.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Uncertainty! Cash flow! People! It's wonderful, but it can also be stressful.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Validate your customer's needs before you spend much money.
  2. Avoid outside investments if you can - you lose control of your destiny once you take other people's money.
  3. Watch cash flow like a hawk.
