Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Becky Sanda, Founder of Rimma’s Naturals, located in Calgary, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Rimma’s Naturals is a clean beauty and natural skincare line. We make bath and body care products for adults and children. Our handmade soaps do not contain silicones, parabens, or synthetic lathering agents. They are safe for even the most sensitive skin. Our customers are anyone who takes a shower!

Tell us about yourself

Rimma’s Naturals is a clean beauty brand that utilizes naturally-derived ingredients to create beauty products that work for you and your family. Delightfully crafted, our products are plant-based and cruelty-free. My biggest motivation is receiving feedback from customers who tell me how much my products restore their confidence in their skin. It motivates and encourages me to keep up the good work and continuously improve my craft.

My son was the inspiration behind @rimmasnaturals. He had atopic dermatitis (eczema) as a baby, and after trying several skincare products and steroid creams with little to no relief, I started making my own soap and body care products which greatly relieved the itch and soothed his skin.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was when my products first got into retail stores.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is the non-stop grind. When you work in a 9-5, and you clock out, you’re done for the day. With your business, especially in the growth stage, it’s a 24-hour hustle and grind. Constantly working on your business, fine-tuning processes, and getting it to a place where you are proud of your accomplishments.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your why- there will be hard days and downtimes. Your why will keep you going.
  2. Outsource the parts of your business that you aren’t the best at. If it’s social media marketing that someone may be better at, outsource it to that person.
  3. Identify your target audience early on. That way, you’re not wasting time prevaricating. When you identify your audience, then you can really focus on creating solutions to their pain points and marketing heavily to them.
