Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leslie Gregory, Founder of Right To Health, Inc., located in Portland, OR, USA.

What's your organization, and who are your members?

We have confronted racism in healthcare and as a public health crisis for more than seven years and have clinical and evidence-based strategies to reverse it, advocate for at-risk and all populations and call in the institutions that perpetuate and/or sustain it.

Tell us about yourself

My mother created the protocol, and both of my parents were medical trailblazers as the first Black RN accepted to the only local school and one of the originators of the local Black firefighters' union, a Ph.D. candidate and true renaissance man whose life was cut far too short by heart disease, the main focus of our preventive strategies.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

More than 20 years as a primary care and preventive cardiology practitioner.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Multitasking, especially in a pandemic, and working against diseases that have no overt symptoms until too late.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Choose brilliant collaborators and watch your mental health/stress management.
  2. Enlist the help and understanding of family and friends.
  3. Watch your environment - clean it up and/or educate yourself about resources there.
