Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rick Olderman, Founder of Fixing You Method, located in Denver, CO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
I’m a sports and orthopedic physical therapist with 25+ years of experience specializing in difficult or chronic pain conditions. I’ve created a series of downloadable home programs to help people eliminate pain.
There are five programs:
They are comprehensive yet simple to follow. I’ve also created an online training program for health and wellness practitioners to learn my systems-based approach to solving pain.
Tell us about yourself
Early in my career, I failed to help people with difficult or chronic pain conditions. I’ve devoted my career to understanding why and how pain happens and how to solve it. Pain ultimately happens from how we use our bodies, so any long-term solution must include this aspect. Frankly, this is why there is so much chronic pain in the world—because many practitioners do not include this aspect of understanding and solving pain. I’m motivated to help people around the world with their pain.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Putting this information together over the last two decades and then framing it in a way that anyone can understand and easily access and use. My programs are very user-friendly and effective.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Overcoming skepticism that something new and different exists that can unlock peoples’ chronic pain. On the same token, I differentiate myself from others. Many people with pain have been to many practitioners and have been told many things that sounded right to them—yet ultimately, they didn’t solve their pain. This creates doubt, especially in a product that is downloadable from a physical therapist they don’t know. That’s why I offer a 60-day money-back guarantee, so there’s no risk to the purchaser. I believe in my programs because I’ve been using this information for more than 20 years and have helped thousands of people.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find someone who is successful in doing a similar or same business and study their model.
- Find an area that is not being addressed by those successful models or a manner in which it can be delivered better.
- Be honest.
