What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are training sailors to learn how to sail foiling sailboats for competition.
Tell us about yourself
I started to sail at the age of 7, and for 50 years sailed and raced standard sailboats. In 2018 I purchased a WASZP and started to learn to sail this and realized it was the most fun boat to sail. But in the US, there are very few places where one can go and learn how to sail a foiling boat. The future of sailing is with Foiling, and all of the great sailors are starting to learn. For me, the opportunity to meet and work with top-level sailing talent to learn this skill has been a lot of fun.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We started the sailing program in October and purchased new boats to support the training program. We partnered with big professional sailing teams to offer camps and clinics for their sailors in their development programs.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
There are three basic questions: Can you sell the product? If you can sell it, can you make a profit? If you can sell it and make a profit, can you generate enough cash flow to survive?
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
