Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Richard Bodnar, owner of Web and Brick Media, located in Columbia, SC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We use 3D Virtual Tours and high-resolution photography to help businesses enhance their website appearance. The virtual tours help to keep customers engaged on the website as they use the newest technology available to see the location and products. Our customers depend on making their website look great to increase the likelihood that their target audience will come to their business or service. Restaurants, clothing stores, jewelry stores, car dealerships, bars, and breweries are just a few that benefit from this service.

Tell us about yourself

I have managed businesses ranging from $1 million to $150 million. I see the technology that we offer as the best means for small and medium-sized businesses to attract the attention of their customers at a reasonable cost. My goal is to help them drive sales by understanding the technology and marketing forces that are driving businesses and consumers today.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

A corporate photoshoot for RBS Capital Markets at their Charlotte, NC office. Took portraits, celebration photos, and pictures of their corporate office. Getting Fusion Audio and Technology to let me shoot some of their projects. This Greenville, SC-based company has some incredible technology and products for consumers and businesses to see what a futuristic home or business looks like today.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Getting everyone to see the vision you have when the technology is so new that few have adapted, even though many younger and affluent customers are expecting these changes to occur at businesses and their websites.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Research your area of passion for services or products to offer. Passion for your company's products and services is infectious. Spend the time to develop a concise marketing measure before you even launch your business on day one. Decide how you are going to use your resources most effectively to market your business to customers and companies. Find the best possible sites or ways to spend your limited resources to obtain immediate sales.
