Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Derek Rice, founder of Rice Chiropractic and Wellness, located in San Diego, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a local chiropractor, and I help people get back to their dreams that pains have hindered them from doing.

Tell us about yourself

After seeing a friend get a treatment that significantly reduced her pain, I got into chiropractic. Also, I like how the methods chiropractic uses have no side effects.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, my greatest achievement is enabling patients to get back to work and do extracurricular activities to live their lives.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is learning what you are not told, how to run a business, and following all of the guidelines. You would think it would be easy to understand, but it's not.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a mentor in your field.
  2. Be willing to learn.
  3. Put what they tell you into action.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Being a business owner is the most rewarding and difficult thing I have done. I wouldn't change it for the world, and I love what I have accomplished up till now. And there is more to come.
