What's your business, and who are your customers?
Own Your Inspiration is a motivational speaking company that inspires students across the globe to own the gifts inside of them and use them to positively impact their community. We can celebrate life regardless of our abilities and adversities. Own Your Inspiration is committed to helping students and the disabled community see their value and understand how to live a better life despite the adversities they have experienced. Own Your Inspiration (OYI) seeks to inspire people to take action, take ownership of their lives, and develop a positive mindset that allows them to keep going and keep growing. OYI is re-engaging and inspiring students and not allowing teachers, staff, and faculty to carry the burden alone. My story, life lessons, and workshops inspire students to become their best selves while also easing the burden of you being the sole motivator in the classroom.
Middle school, High school, or College–the stories are all too familiar. Students are wrestling with anxiety and depression. Struggling to find the inner strength to deal with even the slightest of setbacks. And others crumbling under a mountain of social pressures. At college and career institutions, it’s more of the same–mental health issues, financial distress, and even homelessness. The outcome is certain. Students either act out, check out or drop out! And as for you, educators? Well, it’s hard to teach, discipline, AND motivate when you’re struggling to stay motivated yourself. Motivating students is a big burden when educators alone are left to carry it. I am not asking you to lay down that burden. I am simply here to lighten your load.
Tell us about yourself
This brand was birthed from my life experiences and the challenges that I encountered. I was paralyzed at 14 years old from spinal bacterial meningitis. From one adversity to the next, I made a decision to take ownership of my life and keep going so that I could stay alive and thrive. The culture that Own Your Inspiration creates is a community filled with love, laughter, fun, and respect. OYI believes in serving with excellence and integrity. This organization is on a mission to positively impact and empower generations to come. Own Your Inspiration is owning what is inside of you. Inspiration means ‘in spirit.’ When you know what is inside of you, you are capable of doing what God created you to do. My motivation each day is the testimonials of students we have helped and inspired to keep going and growing.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As a business owner, my greatest accomplishment is inspiring other entrepreneurs to start their own businesses. I am forever grateful for the joy of helping someone realize their potential.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest aspects of being a business owner is developing my skills. Having a healthy personal life reflects having a healthy business.
