Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Xenia Kachur, founder and CEO of REWIRE, located in Seattle, WA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

REWIRE is the first non-pharmaceutical mental health solution that consistently and effectively reverses symptoms of depression, anxiety, sleep issues, and lingering COVID.

Tell us about yourself

In 2016, I sustained my 12th concussion while taking a 15-foot fall from a rock climbing slab in central Oregon. I lost my ability to run, think clearly, control my mood, sleep through the night, and, most tragically, connect with the people I cared about. I felt like I had lost a part of myself. Since then, health and managing its effects on my quality of life have become my biggest priority.

Through my healing journey, I learned a lot about the link between body, brain, and mind. I found experts in brain health, nutrition, sports medicine, and mental health and told them I was willing to try anything to get back my health and quality of life. I changed my diet, tried ancient medicines and supplements (saunas, acupuncture, Chinese herbs), and explored new technologies (neurofeedback, Vasper, sensory deprivation tanks). I wanted to know what worked and what didn’t, so I tracked everything: sleep metrics, heart rate, activity, body temperature, respiratory rate, and a slew of blood-based biomarkers. Through this process, I not only discovered what made me feel the best, but I also had the data to support why my quality of life was finally getting better.

My dream became to share all of the tools and experiences that allowed me to redeem my life with others who struggle as much as I did. I combined the collective knowledge of the most effective healing modalities and a scientific approach to wellness into a single protocol. And with that, REWIRE was born.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Making my dream of an effective, scalable, and accessible mental health solution a reality. Now that we've proven the model at a small scale, we're ready to grow quickly and fulfill my vision of positively impacting the greatest number of people through health.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balancing actioning my vision of growth with the demands of running the day-to-day business. Thank you to my amazing support team (Erin, Emily, & Luke)!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get clear on what the minimum viable product looks like and start there (to limit risk and financial exposure).
  2. People are everything - if you are hiring, be extremely diligent that your staff aligns with your/your business' fundamental values.
