Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Abby O'Malley, founder, owner and CEO of Revive Nutrition Solutions, LLC., located in St. Joseph, MO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Revive Nutrition Solutions. I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who helps individuals creatively solve their nutrition problems by creating personalized nutrition plans and developing daily habit change that sticks. I primarily work with individuals with Celiac Disease who still have daily symptoms that impact their daily quality of life despite following a gluten-free diet, which is currently the only medical treatment for Celiac. I also offer my flagship One Weight One Wardrobe program, which helps women who are sick of yo-yo dieting find their forever weight without restrictive dieting or giving up foods they love.

Tell us about yourself

I decided to choose the path of nutrition entrepreneurship when I was going through my own journey to feel better after receiving a life-altering diagnosis of Celiac Disease. I was already a Registered Dietitian, but throughout my healing journey, I found no resources available to me to feel 100% well again except the old advice, 'just got gluten-free.' I had done that and still struggled with getting out of bed each day because I felt so bad. That's when I really dug into the research and took a different approach to healing beyond just going gluten-free.

I was able to change my life around completely. This is the same motivation that drives me to show up daily for my clients. I want them to experience what it feels like to truly FEEL GOOD! I help them become the best, most healthful version of themselves so they can then impact the world and others through their talents and gifts. It is only when we feel well ourselves that we can help others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is truly the number of people I have helped through both of my programs. Nothing feels better than when a client is experiencing what it feels like to have their health back again and everything it allows them to do again!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Managing all the different roles I have to perform. I am mostly a solopreneur, so there is a lot of juggling of roles, and it's hard to really feel like I have checked anything off the daily to-do list. This is also why I LOVE being a business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just get started! You will NEVER feel like you know enough and are at the perfect place to start. Take a leap a do it.
  2. Let your mission, not $ signs, drive the work you do. But, do make sure you are getting paid for the value you bring to the table.
  3. Delegate. As soon as you can bring on help, do it. Hiring a virtual assistant changed my business for me and made it more manageable.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Just some encouragement to anyone out there who is thinking about starting a business. It can be one of the most powerful things you do in life to be in control of your own financial success and work time.
