Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Clarence Wong, Founder of Revere Physiotherapy, located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. We focus on the best evidence-based physiotherapy practice available. We help clients of all ages, from children to seniors. We treat all types of conditions ranging from post-motor vehicle accidents to work injuries to elite athletes.

Tell us about yourself

I graduated with my Master's in Physiotherapy from UBC in 2015 and started working and accumulating as much experience as possible. I quickly became a clinic director at one of the biggest rehabilitation companies in Canada. From there, that's when I realized my passion for helping guide and teach the younger generation of physiotherapists to practice physiotherapy to the correct way and, most importantly, enjoy the profession!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Just being able to go through the whole initial start-up process, which took over a year and was fairly stressful. From getting permits to doing full renovations. Having opened the doors approximately three months ago, it's amazing to see my vision come to life.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being adaptable to any situation that may come my way. There will always be good weeks and bad weeks for business, but it is important to stay grounded and keep the course. Marketing strategies also change all the time, and you have to adapt in order to grow a business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be prepared and do your research before you embark on the journey. It is a rewarding one, but nothing is ever straightforward, and it will most likely cost much more than expected.
  2. Be a master in your field. You must produce a great product, and in order to do so, you must know as much as anyone else to do so.
  3. Enjoy the process! It is bound to be stressful but very rewarding in the end!
