What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Resume-Interview Success, LLC, and my clients range from college students to C-suite executives and Board Members. I am blessed to have this opportunity to help people achieve the career of their dreams and to pay it forward; I provide career collateral pro-bono to Hire Heroes USA and Give Her Wings. I also provide discounts to service personnel and veterans.

Building lasting relationships with my clients is very important. As one client said, "She dedicated all the time I needed and made me feel like a friend who cares, not just a client."

Tell us about yourself

I am the founder and owner of Resume-Interview Success, LLC, and have been helping people reach their career goals for 6+ years. I have 30+ years of HR experience, specifically in the area of Benefits. I have always been a self-avowed Benefits geek but developed a passion for resume writing, LinkedIn profile optimization, and especially interview coaching when my twin sons entered college.

I worked with my one son on creating a resume that displayed his personal brand, an elevator pitch that sold his value proposition, and interview coaching that helped him ace his interviews. He got that first co-op and the next two co-ops he interviewed for. Proud parent here - his third co-op offered him a permanent position - and thus, my business was born.

Having worked in numerous industries, with everyone from hourly employees to C-suite executives, and having conducted thousands of corporate interviews during her 30+ years in HR, I bring a unique perspective to your job hunt.

As a certified resume writer and digital branding specialist, I possess expertise in resume, cover letter, and career bio writing, LinkedIn profile optimization, networking training, interview coaching, corporate outplacement, and military to civilian transitions. I believe that a great resume gets you interviewed, and a great interview gets you hired!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment happens every time one of my clients gets the job of their dreams. I have a 5-Star rating on Google and LinkedIn. • 97.5% overall satisfaction rating, with an average of 99% of clients seeing an immediate increase in recruiter interaction and an average of 87% receiving an interview request within two weeks of updating their resume and job board profiles. • 98% of clients who have used our interview preparation services have made it to a second interview, with 84% receiving a job offer.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing for me as a business owner is balancing business and home life, especially as I work from home. Shutting down, not checking emails, and just tuning out that voice in my head that reminds me of all the things I have to do for my business and clients is a very difficult balancing act.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, make sure you are following your passion. Starting and maintaining a business can be all-consuming, especially in the beginning, so loving what you are doing is a must. Second, find professional organizations to join related to your business. These organizations can provide support, direction, and referrals. Lastly, SEO and marketing are key. You don't have to spend lots of money to achieve optimum ranking on Google. If you join professional groups and set up bio's on their sites, post consistently on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, etc., start a blog, and/or start a customer or client newsletter, your Google rankings will increase.
