Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with James Connelly, Owner of Results Rehab, located in Roswell, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own a Concierge Physical Therapy practice that caters to active adults and athletes.

Tell us about yourself

I knew there had to be a better way to deliver Physical Therapy. As a therapist at a big company, I was seeing 15-20 patients per day which means I could only give quality, individualized care for 15-20 minutes per patient. In my mind, that is not quality healthcare and is not fair to the patient. The patient’s health should always be our number one concern, and I believe the healthcare system has gotten away from that.

But that’s not the biggest reason for starting my own business. For me, Physical Therapy is a calling; it saved my life. At 8 months old, I had a Hemorrhagic Stroke that affected the left side of my body. Through numerous corrective surgeries and Physical Therapy, I am now able to walk relatively normally and pain-free. It allows me to live independently, and do the activities that I love such as hiking and
playing basketball.

I also want to pay it forward. I believe It is my God-given calling to use Physical Therapy as a tool to serve others to give them their lives back. Starting Results Rehab allows me to fulfill this mission; and I am so excited to see how it can bless others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is being able to break the traditional healthcare mold by starting my own company with the sole purpose of delivering healthcare the way it's meant to be--actually focusing on getting the person healthy. What sets me apart from others is my ability to empathize and relate to my clients through my own story. It can be very frustrating to be in pain and/or have some sort of physical impairment. However, we also have the power to choose how we react to it as well as how much we improve upon it. I want to be able to guide others to their success by using my personal experiences as well as my knowledge of the human body.

Along with having personal experience, I also understand I must spend enough time with each client; which is why every session is 1 on 1 for a full hour in order to maximize results.

My ultimate vision is for Results Rehab to be known for giving people their lives back, because that’s what Physical Therapy did for me. I have already helped so many in just two years of business, and am so excited to help many more as Results Rehab grows.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things is figuring out your "why." If your reason for starting your own business is just to "make a lot of money," then you will most likely not last. I've learned that in order to create a sustainable, successful business, one must dive deep into what is the purpose of the business. Because when the hard times come (and there will be hard times), if the "why" is only as shallow as "I want to make a lot of money," then it becomes way to easy to close the business and move one to the next shiny object.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

True success comes when your "why" aligns with consistently doing the right tasks daily to see long term growth.

  1. Figure out your "why."
  2. Get a support group (coach, mastermind).
  3. Develop daily habits to "move the needle forward."
