Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Stephanie Larsen, co-owner of Restore Behavioral Health, located in Mount Pleasant, WI, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I run a psychotherapy practice that focuses on performance and quality of life. Instead of what is wrong with you, we focus on what happened to you and what is in the way of having the life you want. I have specializations in trauma and sex therapy, allowing me to free people who are particularly stuck yet motivated to understand themselves and their relationships.

Tell us about yourself

Honestly, I wanted to understand myself and my relationships. The more I continue to learn and specialize in this work, the more passionate I am about sharing this knowledge and helping others walk through this process. I believe that to heal the world, you need to start with healing yourself. If I can help facilitate healing in others, I am hoping that it contributes to greater community healing as well.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

That my clients trust me and feel safe in doing this important work, that has lent itself to growing a good reputation for my expertise and ability to provide quality care and real-life changes to my clients' relationships with themselves and their loved ones and improvement in their work and financial lives as well.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Finding good help - quality accountant, reliable media and marketing people - people who have knowledge in areas I do not but need to rely on to help more people in different ways.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Just like any new change with any of my clients, this is no different - it starts with mindset. If you do not believe you are capable, you will sabotage yourself. Seek out and pay for quality mentorship.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

You can have the life you want. It will require self-reflection and accountability to an ongoing process that is effective in getting you there.
