What's your business, and who are your customers?
I own and operate a private concierge nutrition practice. My primary customers are women who suffer from hormonal imbalances and gut dysbiosis and want to restore their health.
Tell us about yourself
My journey in the health and wellness space culminated in 2010 while working as a Director of Products for a Telecommunications company. I had to travel frequently for my job and was inspired by what I witnessed with some colleagues. I knew I didn't want to be statistics and decided that I had to do whatever it took to remain healthy. That led me on a path of research where I found a school called the Institute for Integrative nutrition that would ultimately change my life and, by extension, many others.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
One of my biggest accomplishments to date is the number of lives I have positively impacted globally via my integrative nutrition approach to health. I have had the privilege to work with people in China, Germany, Japan, the USA, and the Caribbean. It is a joy to receive messages that have indicated how their lives have improved and have not gone back to the bad habits. In some cases, their doctors couldn't help; while I am not a doctor or trying to replace one, I am a firm believer that good nutrition is key to unlocking health.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Ensuring that you are offering exceptional service while managing the finances.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Hire help; you cannot do it alone.
- Take time for yourself; you may be tempted to work around the clock.
- If you offer a service, try to figure out a product that makes money while you are sleeping.
