Renegade Baker makes Gluten-Free Vegan baked goods for those who crave a healthier way to indulge in Houston, Texas.

Tell us about yourself

I’ve always used baking as an outlet for creativity and stress relief. One day, I decided to see if I could use it to make enough money to pay off a parking ticket. Once I got a taste of watching other people pay for and enjoy what I’d made, that was IT. I was hooked on the whole idea. Nowadays, I am fueled by the people I meet from different walks of life who find value in what I’m doing. There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing you’re making someone’s life a tiny bit better by providing a better option for them.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Sticking with it. I started this business in 2019. I’ve crawled through 2020 and 2021. I’m still moving forward. That’s a big deal to me.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It’s a constant rollercoaster of highs and lows. I cut my teeth on everything. But this business has pushed me to grow personally more than I ever thought I could. And I’m only getting started.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Think about the long game. Don’t jump on a trend.
  2. Luck favors the prepared.
  3. Be kind to EVERYONE. You don’t know the battles they’re fighting.
