Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Juliana Scheidhauer, Founder and CEO of Reimagine Resources, located in St. Louis, MO, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Reimagine Resources is an online and in-person fitness equipment business out of St. Louis. Our global startup is made up of an amazing team of three people. What we really do is help businesses and individuals find their ideal fitness equipment, service gym equipment, and upgrade/recycle their old equipment.
Tell us about yourself
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a self-motivated, results-oriented person. I’m passionate about innovating, impacting, and inspiring people globally through meaningful work and personal excellence. During the pandemic, while completing my Executive Master’s in international business from Saint Louis University, I was also starting my business, Reimagine Resources, a fitness equipment, and resource company. Today, however, it has developed into an online and in-person business that connects people to fitness equipment, fitness services, and fitness resources in the local area.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is being able to impact the lives of people through our business. We serve our customers and clients well and make them happy, and we have also gotten the opportunity to support a few nonprofit organizations, donate fitness equipment, and create jobs locally and internationally. Beyond that, I am thankful that in only a couple of years, my business has grown from my apartment to my family’s garage to now about 5,000 sq/ft of space in Fenton, MO!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I believe that managing long-term strategies and short-term activities can be challenging for business owners. As a business owner, I am constantly thinking about tomorrow and how to best strategize in an everchanging world but also taking detailed care of what should be happening in the near future. Understanding the dynamic changes in an environment or people is critical because people often buy into people before they buy products.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Understand yourself. Identify your life goals, understand your strengths and weaknesses, and recognize your risk tolerance.
- Understand the world around you. Understanding your product/service, your customers, your competitors, your resource, and the market, and determining a data-driven and financial analysis of the prospective business.
- Plan and organize. Ensure you are planned and prepared with tests, assessments, and models.
