Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Piper Gibson, Founder, and CEO of Regenerating Health, located in Las Cruces, NM, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the Founder and CEO of the Tic Disorder Institute, Regenerating Health. My foundational methods teach parents holistic techniques that will restore their child's health in the face of a potentially confusing and worrying diagnosis. I help scared, frustrated, overwhelmed parents get access to the tools, testing, and education they need so they can start reducing their child's tic disorder symptoms naturally.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Piper Gibson, and I am a Doctor of Functional Medicine, Advanced Holistic Nutrition, and Traditional Naturopathy. I am also a Board Certified Doctor of Natural Medicine and Nutrigenomics Specialist. However, I did not start here. Eleven years ago, my son was diagnosed with a transient neurological tic. What began for us as a tic diagnosis quickly spiraled out of control! We ended up with a long list of symptoms and diagnoses, from sensory processing to lack of focus. We tried eight different doctors and ten different prescriptions.

It was evident that the conventional approach was failing us. I spent endless nights researching natural ways to heal my son's body, eventually leading me back to school. After relearning everything, I thought I knew about health and wellness. I was able to create a plan that worked for the individual needs of my son. Now, I help families just like mine.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is that I have been able to reach families and change lives worldwide-families whose children are struggling with uncontrollable daily symptoms. No one understands more than I do how lonely it feels to have a child with a chronic illness. The parents I work with desperately want someone to hold their hand, and I can provide that for them. I am holistically changing lives every day.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest part of being a business owner is cutting yourself some slack. Sometimes there will be a bump in the road, and things may not always be perfect. As a business owner, all the risk and reward belong to you, and sometimes it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. So take a few moments to celebrate how far you have come.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your passion and the why behind your business.
  2. Perfect your niche.
  3. Hire a team, and don't be afraid to delegate.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

We spent six years looking for answers for my son - we felt alone, scared, and overwhelmed. Finally, through one of the scariest and darkest times in our lives, we have reached the light at the end of the tunnel. The Tic Disorder Insititute has allowed me to create a supportive and thriving community. The families I work with also change my life daily, and I am forever grateful for that.
