What's your business, and who are your customers?
Reflect produces and sells high-performance activewear, but it's much more than that. Reflect is designed to bring out the best in athletes and active people whenever they perform.
Tell us about yourself
I was motivated to be in business by both of my parents, who were by no stretch of the imagination business owners. But my mom taught me what an entrepreneur was at a very early age, and I will always remember my father telling me, "Sometimes you want to be able to work for yourself." I hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University and have worked in various engineering roles. Growing up, I played baseball and basketball and eventually took to working at basketball as my main sport. As I've gotten older, I now watch a lot of sports and am never shocked when athletes perform amazing feats.
What inspires me the most is impacting people to truly reach deep inside and be whoever they want to be, and sports/physical activity is an awesome way to express ourselves.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment continues to be my ability to turn nothing into something. Building brands that people resonate with and see the value in.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Wearing multiple hats all the time is the hardest thing. I am striving to get my business to a point where I can focus on strategizing and connecting with others.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't feed into the fast-paced entrepreneurship lifestyle portrayed on social media; good businesses take time and care.
- Always put your best foot forward and keep your heart in the right place.
- Customers (and investors) are super important in business, so always be aware of what they want and need.
