What's your business, and who are your customers?
Reconcile is a real-time tax optimization platform for accountants and advisors to provide proactive guidance for their clients who have stocks, crypto, employee stock option, and a mix of other investments. We aim to help professionals save their clients from overpaying on taxes by offering visibility into held-away accounts and seeing when clients may mistakenly cause large tax bills. We aggregate client investment information into one platform and run a proprietary tax engine every day to trigger real-time tax optimization opportunity alerts.
Tell us about yourself
One of my missions in life is to help billions of middle and lower-income individuals achieve financial freedom. I've learned that tax optimization is one of the best strategies for individuals to build and preserve wealth. We all know that the richest individuals have the savviest accountants and financial experts helping them with tax avoidance. I wanted to build Reconcile to provide the same legal strategies to the rest of the world at an affordable cost.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Building a remote team and releasing our product amid a pandemic was an extremely tough challenge. I'm very proud of how we, collectively, navigated this.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Managing the financial and tax side of things is definitely something that no business owner enjoys doing! Being able to keep detailed records and outsource this work is crucial.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
In today's world, there's so much competition for every skilled resource, customers, and funds. Being able to keep pushing and persevere is the number one advice every entrepreneur should keep in mind. You will encounter more failures and learning opportunities than easy wins for the first few years, so be prepared to accept that reality. There's really no such thing as an overnight success that lasts.
