Tell us about yourself

My adventure began in Parson's, Kansas, and Springfield, Missouri, but my love for the tropics eventually landed me in Southwest Florida. Adventure has always had a strong presence in my life. From running marathons, or an 80-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail to successfully climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, I have pushed myself whether on an adventure or in the office.

I have been fortunate enough to work with a variety of personalities and business organizations across the United States and internationally, which has included leadership positions with several media companies in the field of newspapers, magazines, and broadcasting. I have published a variety of blogs and articles for several publications relating to health and fitness. I am also a published author of two books, one about my mother's life and the other about living each day to the fullest. As a certified, I work with people that are on a journey for change.

My credentials include certification as a personal trainer and behavior change specialist, a certified Hatha Yoga Instructor and Meditation Teacher, and a Master Instructor specializing in geriatric entertainment involving music, movement, and interaction. I also am a master coach in the technique of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which is an approach to communication and personal development through the connection of language and behavioral patterns.

I have modeled professionally, traveled extensively, and been involved in various non-profit organizations. I enjoy outdoor activities, including fishing, hiking, running, kayaking, and cycling. I live in Southwest Florida with my husband, who is also an entrepreneur, and rescue Doberman and Eclectus parrot.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Restructuring during 2020 when COVID shut my business down completely. I took that time to reevaluate and be proactive for the future.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Patience for me. I want everything to happen faster and in the timeline that I have in my head.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Don't expect things to happen just because you have a business license. Make a plan working backward from where you want to be and stay focused on the long term when you get discouraged.
