Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kerri Bicskei, Founder of Ready Set Mindful, located in Tampa, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Ready Set Mindful offers therapy, coaching, and sport psychology services to athletes and high-achieving people looking to optimize their mental performance.

Tell us about yourself

I am a former professional volleyball player turned triathlete and psychotherapist. As a college and professional athlete, I was always looking for something that could give me that extra edge. I loved learning how different tools like visualization and meditation worked and saw how much these tools improved my performance and made me a better human. I wanted to pass those tools on to athletes. Starting my business and working with athletes naturally fit my background and interests. Leaving my former 9-5 job to follow my dream of having a successful private practice has offered me the freedom to work with the population I love and do work I am deeply connected to. Seeing the athletes I work with have amazing outcomes as a result of their hard work, coupled with the tools I teach them, keeps me inspired to continue to grow Ready Set Mindful.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is having a successful podcast that allows me to provide resources and education to clients and also allows them to find and work with me.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Wearing ALL the hats! Managing taxes, social media, licenses, SEO - all of the things! The constant learning I have to do has been hard but also very fulfilling, knowing that I’m becoming a more well-versed and capable business owner.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Join Facebook groups! People love to share tips and advice, and this resource has been so helpful for me. See a therapist or coach to help you with any limiting beliefs you may have about your ability to be successful. Having a therapist and coach has been a game-changer for me. The last tip I would give would be to listen to business podcasts that are in your niche! Podcasts are an incredible resource for business owners and people who are curious about entrepreneurship.
