What's your business, and who are your customers?
BestBodiesforLife was built around my journey from obesity and a borderline diabetic adolescent. After becoming very passionate about my faith, health, and community, I started meditating on my experiences and struggles. I decided to start BestBodiesforLife - an organization centered on providing clean, simple, and FUNctional-focused nutritional supplements to help one person at a time live the life they were created to live.
BBfL Lifestyle shakes were created for the busy on-the-go parent, athletes of all ages, and even the picky toddler. Our Lifestyle shakes combine high-quality functional ingredients like Apple Cider Vinegar, organic protein, and more to give our customers more than just another protein powder, but the benefits of each ingredient and the confidence of knowing exactly what's in it and why.
Tell us about yourself
I was inspired to start BestBodiesforLife primarily because of my journey through obesity, diabetes, and other health issues at an early age. However, our Brand's mission for child sponsorship has kept my team and me going. The tremendous need around the world for kids to be sponsored, not just to help fight hunger, but child trafficking and other great threats facing these children, has been the primary factor keeping us going. We believe at BestBodiesforLife that as God has given us His best, we should too. As our bodies are His temple, we should steward them as such; lastly, if we are eternal beings, then our choices have an eternal impact. Therefore, as our customers choose to sow into their bodies by purchasing BestBodiesforLife, they are getting to be a part of sowing into somebody as well. Each purchase has a direct impact on our child sponsorship mission.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment, I believe, so far as the founder and steward of this amazing company have been knowing and seeing the impact we've been able to make by essentially focusing from the very beginning on our culture, mission, and vision first before anything else.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I believe that as the owner and steward of this company, one of the most difficult things that I've dealt with has been continuing to stay mindful of our "why," not just the "what." The majority of new brands typically focus on growth and scalability, and their true "why" gets left behind in the name of growth and other factors. Through mentorship, wise counsel, and accountability, I haven't ignored that this is a business, but I continue to fight to keep our vision, mission, and culture at the forefront of how to make decisions.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure that you're "why" goes beyond just "you." Who are you serving, and how are others benefitting from what you're doing.
- Remember that resilience and perseverance never fail you. You either accomplish your goal and/or your character is built - either way, they never fail you!
- Lastly, and most importantly, keep God first in everything you do!
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
I want to thank my parents for all the sacrifices they've made to help my dreams become a reality. I'm simply thankful and honored for the opportunity!
