What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help startups, and big businesses with product design and mobile apps backed with behavioural science and psychology knowledge. I specialise in designing zero-to-one products by converting their concepts into working prototypes that can be developed into pixel-perfect designs. Customers are mainly entrepreneurs or startups who require brainstorming in their early blueprints. Sometimes work comes in the form of freelance projects from all over the world. Sometimes I have to join the organisation as a design consultant with full-time responsibilities.

Tell us about yourself

Due to my interest in psychology, I pursued a master's in behavioural science. Currently, I am helping a logistics company, Porter, where I worked on designing an incentive reward feature for the Drivers app from scratch using Behavioural design principles. I enjoy creating ideas around product design, and there is an interesting story of how I got into design. Back in 2013, I was working on a project which required coding. The supervisor told me to work not on code but on the user interface. It was a new world for me. I discovered my calling and pursued various professional courses with simultaneous working experience. I enjoyed the conversations around problem-solving and the impact designs created determined to improve the quality of life. This ability to create a profound impact in the lives of millions motivates me each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In these 7+ years of business, I have shipped over 30+ projects, creating long-lasting work relationships with some of the brightest entrepreneurs. I am also lucky to have had continual breakthroughs throughout my career, such as being recognised as 'Best Creative' and 'Best Idea' during the entrepreneurship boot camp. Despite getting awards, the most significant accomplishment is getting a good reputation as a reliable designer in the market, where your friends and colleagues respect and praise your work.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

You have to treat your products and services like a baby. In hard times, one of the most courageous and hardest things one can do is to keep floating the boat and have a resilient attitude. Maintaining this attitude is one of the hardest things.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The 3 mantras, in short, would be:

  2. Don't stop.
  3. Keep evolving.
