Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marcey Rader, Founder of RaderCo., located in Raleigh, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Where health powers productivity, RaderCo helps executives and business owners banish burnout and keep moving forward through practical, tailored tools, healthy, sustainable habits, and coaching accountability.

If you're drowning in email, tasks, or stress, our top-tier experts can equip every employee, team, and leader to be their best, so you can all work well together. Our customers tend to work in the biotech, pharma, and accounting space, but anyone with an overwhelming task list or who feels barraged by notifications can benefit!

Tell us about yourself

I started RaderCo nine years ago after experiencing significant corporate burnout. I was a corporate trainer and took my most popular topic (productivity hacks) that people would ask me to coach them on privately, and I created a business.

It sounds cliche, but giving my clients the time they swear isn't there and receiving emails about their inbox zero, phone-free soccer tournaments, and career promotions make me do a happy dance!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I can't name only one, so I'll give three. 1) Receiving my Certified Speaking Professional® designation from the National Speakers Association. I'm one of only 800 speakers worldwide with this certificate. 2) My third book, - Work Well." Play More! Productive, Clutter-Free, Healthy Living - One Step at a Time. 3) Developing two team members who didn't understand the speaking and coaching business and had never worked in any of the systems we use to become total bosses of them and achieve things they didn't even know were possible!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

You can't take a mental vacation from it. With a clock-in, clock-out job, you can leave it behind. When you own a business, you're always thinking about things you could be doing and improving. With an online business, my work can go wherever I go. A blessing and a curse!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Join a mastermind of business owners to meet monthly and discuss your bragging and lessons learned.
  2. Don't feel like you have to know everything. Hire the people who do!
  3. Hire a coach of some kind—business, marketing, productivity (! ), communications—someone who can elevate your skill set and multiply it by ten.
