Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rachel Benton, founder of Rachel Benton Coaching, located in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is all about guiding impact-driven women to connect with themselves, their bodies, their intuition so they can redefine who they are and become the women they want to be. I help them step into their inner power, change their beliefs, heal what's holding them back and create the life that they truly want.

Tell us about yourself

An internal drive and passion are what got me started coaching. For so long, I kept myself playing small and was so afraid of stepping outside my comfort zone that for years I sat on the sidelines in my comfort and misery. I was so afraid of being seen that I became the chameleon, the one who could morph into what everyone else wanted so I would be accepted and loved by others, never asking myself what I needed or wanted. Until I couldn't anymore. A part of me wanted to emerge and be free, and when that started, there was no going back. I built my business around helping others step out of their comfort zone, emerge from the depths of themselves, through fear and suffering into beautiful, confident, connected beings. Guiding them using the tools and practices that I use to help me on my journey of growth.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building my business from nothing into this beautiful, thriving, evolving business year after year. Seeing it change as I change and become so much more than I even thought possible. Putting together my signature Program, THE POWER OF YOU, and building a community of like-hearted women has been an amazing journey.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Taking time for yourself. As a business owner, you are always on, always thinking of the next thing and what is left to do. If you don't schedule your YOU time and make this a priority in your life and business, you will burn yourself out. Setting clear boundaries (and honoring them) and scheduling time to reconnect with yourself and just being will be a game-changer in your business. It's in those times that you will hear your intuition and inner guidance, and it's in those times that you'll have your best ideas of what to do next. You are filling up your own cup to be able to show up as your best self, not your depleted, impatient self.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. KNOW YOUR VALUES. Get clear on who you are and what you stand for. Make sure that any and all decisions are in alignment with these values. Otherwise, you will never be satisfied or fulfilled.
  2. BELIEFS - Check in with your belief system and ask yourself:
Do I truly believe in myself and what I have to offer?
Do I truly believe in my business and my clients?
Do I truly believe in my products and services?
Make sure that there are no cracks in your foundation and that you are completely confident with who you are and what you offer.
  3. SUPPORT SYSTEM - Make sure you are surrounded by people who support you and raise you up. Fill your life with mentors, coaches, and soul sisters that are there to help you grow and inspire you to become better.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I always say: being an entrepreneur is an automatic sign-up for personal development. Be ready to open yourself up, be vulnerable and grow from every experience. That is what magnetizes your business and creates sustainable success.
