What's your business, and who your customers?

I am a Certified Life Coach and the owner and founder of R Six Coaching. My business specializes in helping busy moms uncover their priorities to create simple systems of efficiency and productivity. I do this by uncovering what is holding you back from prioritizing yourself, shifting your paradigm to see that you come first, and giving you actionable tools to stay committed to changing your life for the better. Taking care of yourself on a regular basis is the best gift you can give to your family!

Tell us about yourself

As a mother of four and a firefighters wife, I have 20+ years of hard-earned experience with the work/family/self-balancing act. I had absorbed messages about being "good" at all of those things, and it nearly broke me. I wasn't living my life; I was living someone else's and getting confused and pissed at the direction things were going. I was overwhelmed, burnt out, hit a wall, and finally realized something had to change. I did the only thing I knew to do, I went to therapy and began dealing with the BS stories I had created in my head based on other people's experiences. Making myself a priority wasn't a message I received from family, friends, or society.

So, I started prioritizing myself.
I knew that if I didn't do it, no one else was going to do it for me. I became a much better mom, wife, and person because I filled my own damn cup. I'd schedule time daily for myself to meditate, work out or simply sit still. I write in my gratitude journal, reminding myself of how much I have to be grateful for. As well as practicing self-love and incorporating activities that bring me joy. As a result, I'm able to give 100% more to those that I care for most in the world. That's when I decided to become a Life Coach that focuses on teaching Moms how to become a priority in their own damn life! Now I can give you what I desperately needed before YOU hit the wall! Taking care of yourself on a regular basis is the best gift you can give to your family!
I also love cupcakes. :)

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My greatest accomplishment is seeing my clients incorporate what I've taught them and begin to thrive! For example, I've helped a burned-out mom of 2 design realistic scheduling practices that helped to improve how she functions and shows up for her family, day after day. I've spoken to several Mom groups and taught them simple yet effective ways to start making themselves a priority again. During these talks, they start to recognize and shift their mindset on the expectations of being a Mom. Once we tackle that step, I guide and teach them how to create individualized self-care plans.

Plus, with every Mom I work with, I show them how to incorporate daily practices that make a massive impact on them and their families. As a business owner and a coach, building a safe, non-judgemental community is what I strive for. I'm proud of my consistent work to engage with my clients and help them navigate their personal goals to create the family life they dream of. Even if I don't work 1- on -1 with a mom, I know that I am helping reshape her perspective on how she approaches motherhood from all of the content I create for social media. When my clients have their A-Ha moments and realize that they get to design the narrative for their life, It makes all the challenging BTS work of being a business owner 1000% worth it!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

RESTING!
Learning to make space and time for taking a break. Even though I guide my clients to live their lives this way and share the benefits with them, I still sometimes have a hard time doing it myself. There is always something to do when you have your own business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Hire a business coach - Find someone who aligns with your values and understands your business, as well as has a proven track record. This is always money well spent.
  2. Learn your audience. If you don't know what they need, you won't know how to help them.
  3. Build in time to your schedule to take a break. Resting is still being productive!
