What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a boutique consulting firm. I primarily help solopreneurs or small business owners through different stages of business development or life change.
Tell us about yourself
My career began as a private practice clinical behaviorist. I worked with families and individuals who were overcoming past trauma. In the past 20 years, I've owned 5 companies, some successful, some not so much. In 2016 I decided to merge my two greatest passions, my ability to help people along with my ability to teach/mentor, into coaching and consulting for small business owners. Knowing firsthand how hard the entrepreneur path is, I wanted to guide individuals through a more balanced, successful path.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Surviving. It takes an undeniable belief in yourself/your business to keep going through the tough days, not quit, get creative, and wake up devoted.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The false understanding of what successful means. Most of us chase the entrepreneurial path for freedom and/or wealth. The reality versus the vision is very different. You can't call in sick when you are building your business; you can't get lost in ego or pride when you are your brand's only ambassador. The work-life balance is hard to manage at times, but if this is your goal, you must choose your sacrifices.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Start small, grow big, and know your limits (emotionally, financially, when to go all in and pull out).
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Just remember that we don't live on the moon. Almost every dream has the potential to be actualized. Don't ever limit yourself by what's possible; evaluate instead what's worth the sacrifices.
