Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dr. Cristina Imre, Founder of Quantum Wins.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Two decades ago, I started my journey to deeply study and understand human nature and business combined. The Quantum Wins Signature Coaching Program is the result of those decades. I now coach change-makers who deserve to win the game. My favorite and beloved clients are those founders, entrepreneurs, and CEOs who are on a mission to bring something good and better into this world through great ideas and technology.

As a coach, you cannot afford to work with many 1:1 clients; therefore, I carefully select my clients based on character and big ambitions to achieve. If the right people rule this world, amazing things will happen to all of us. And these people need all the help in the world to achieve their mission.

Like all elite athletes, the same goes for those building and running a business. They need a coach next to them to act as a guide and enabler each step of the way, no matter the issue they face, business or personal. I'm a true believer that behind all successes and unicorns are those invisible people who make sure that all those targets and dreams are achieved. I'm one of those secret weapons.

Tell us about yourself

My work is fascinating because it's 100% people-centric. When your fascinations are people in a business setting, you cannot have enough. I never know what comes next in my sessions. It's like having secret missions that are revealed on a daily basis.

I'll never work after an agenda if my client has an urgent priority. Life is unpredictable, and a good coach should always know to adjust and consider things holistically. Once you're good at your job and have experience, nothing should catch you off guard.

And new scenarios happen a lot with those who are running a business. They always have fires to extinguish, new opportunities to pursue, crucial meetings to prepare for, impactful and sensitive decisions to make, emergencies at home that defocus them from business, multiple issues at once to deal with, breakdowns, dilemmas, etc.

Businesses are people. Once you internalize that and act accordingly, everything can be handled and shifted properly. And people are fascinating, having all those facets and constant tumultuous battles. I couldn't be bored, and for someone who is both entrepreneurial and human-centric, this work is a perfect match for me.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

It's hard to quantify this because what I consider achievements might be seen as contrarian and part of different segments of life or interest. I started helping people because I was wired this way since high school. Things that I did with and for others helped them be where they are today.

Many times I see from a distance those accomplished individuals I worked with who are exactly where they imagined themselves to be. They drew their dreams and strategies on paper for the first time with me five, ten, or twenty years ago.

Then some lives were literally ready to end before my intervention. As an example, imagine receiving a call from someone on a rooftop looking down and ready to jump. It's not a call anyone wants to receive. How could I choose which one is more significant? For others, raising a successful adult is the greatest accomplishment, and I can confirm that this is a huge undertaking.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Sharing the vision and getting everyone on board. That means family included. Being a business owner is a lonely journey, and entrepreneurs are on top of the highest rates for mental health issues. The responsibilities that come with running a business are proportionally increasing with the business size. That's impactful for anyone. Most businesses fail, and the reasons vary. You have to master a winning mindset first, and that sets apart those success stories from the big wave of failures.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Set up your north star and make sure everyone knows about it and understands what it means in detail. This is more than a mission statement, and some values are thrown in there. Create a clear vision about where you see the company in three years. Then share that vision openly with your team to stimulate growth, ambition, and enthusiasm. You'll build your culture around it.
  2. Believe in your mission. We act based on our beliefs. Our attitude is reflected in our actions. If you're uncertain, you're setting yourself up to fail. Once you decide what you want, make sure you believe in your north star, and the road will drive you there.
  3. Focus on building a profitable business, a revenue-generating one with increasing demand, with clients ready to pay for your solution. Prioritize this approach to raising capital. Once your fundamental basis is in place, you'll always have the leverage to raise money if you want but on your terms. Traction is the name of the game, but make sure it's true traction, not vanity metrics that can be faked easily.

Good luck!
