What's your business, and who are your customers?
Pure + Planted is a radically different CBD and Sexual Wellness brand that elevates the everyday. Born and bred under the Vermont sun and a mainstay in the cannabis community for over 20 years, we create small-batch, hemp-infused beauty and wellness products with a beyond clean, beyond sustainable, and beyond efficacious approach. Our assortment of skincare, bath + body, and sexual wellness products are intentionally crafted to provide maximum benefits to the user. As a female-founded brand, we take inspiration from actual lived experiences to research and formulate products that serve as wellness solutions for real life. At Pure + Planted, the intent of everything we create is to elevate the lives of others.
Tell us about yourself
I have been a lifelong advocate of cannabis and a believer in its healing potential. I had experience in both hospitality and the cannabis space and wanted to create wellness solutions that were clean, locally sourced, and elevated the lives of others. Pure + Planted began with me experimenting in my home kitchen, making CBD edibles. Our CBD Gummy was the result of that and was the first product we sold.
The more I tried using CBD topically, I noticed lots of little issues disappearing from TMJ to dry, flaky winter skin on my face. I became increasingly amazed by the seemingly endless ways CBD could be used to improve regular skincare and beauty products. However, I wanted to create products that were as luxurious and high-end as my regular skin care products. One by one, I began attempting to formulate a CBD-infused version of all the products that I used on a daily basis.
Five years later, I still wake up every day excited about my work. I'm motivated by the positive impact that our CBD products have had on our customers' lives as well as my own.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is that I alone created my own path and, as a result, got to spend my life doing something I love every day.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Taking time off.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Slow down.
- Take time for self-care. That includes having fun at work and at play.
- Don't Get down on yourself for making mistakes. Mistakes and missteps will inevitably happen.
