What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a woman-owned family business that handcrafts aromatherapy wellness coconut wax candles using real essential oil aromas. They are vegan, 100% plant-based, sustainable, truly natural candles for healthy living.
Tell us about yourself
I was in health & fitness for over 20 years with a degree in Kinesiology. I became certified in aromatherapy and the use of essential oils. My passion is creating exceptional essential oil aromas for natural products that will enhance people's wellness and well-being.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I started the first natural aromatherapy candle business in the world in 1995. We sold it in 2006.
Unfortunately, I had a divorce, stayed home to heal my two daughters, and then began another natural wellness company in my garage. Now we have a small warehouse where we make our wellness products.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The challenge is cash flow and trying to stay afloat among other large companies that are not truthful about what is in their products.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Make sure you have enough money to start the business.
- Your customers can feel that if you are not passionate about your products.
- Be kind to the people who help you or are on your team.
