Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cailyn Duval, Founder of Pump&Crunch, located in Houston, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Pump&Crunch isn't just a website or Instagram handle - It's a lifestyle. My passion for food, exercise, and overall health have transcribed into a space of sharing and creativity in hopes of inspiring those who come here. I aim to change the way people see healthy food, making it more convenient and less intimidating.

My goal with this space is to provide all the tools necessary to live a hassle-free, healthy life. Food is my ultimate passion, and it's meant to be enjoyed, not stressed over, right?

On the Pump&Crunch site, you’ll find an extensive library of healthy, simple, and affordable recipes that are absolutely delicious for those who love to cook at home or need some inspiration in the kitchen. You'll also find my program Prep School by Pump&Crunch, a monthly subscription that includes weekly grocery lists, recipes, live cooking classes, and more for those looking to learn.

For those local to Houston, TX, Pump&Crunch offers meal prep services, where you can order from a weekly changing menu with a pickup that same day. Why Pump&Crunch? Because here, we genuinely want you to succeed in the kitchen, enjoy the process, and of course, have a happy, full belly at the end of a busy day.

Tell us about yourself

Hello! My name is Cail (pronounced like Kale), and I'm the owner and founder of my brand and business, Pump&Crunch. I'm a self-made chef, certified personal trainer, and wellness entrepreneur born and raised in southern Louisiana but now live in the heart of Houston, TX.

I worked in the fitness industry for nearly ten years and now run my business full-time. Under Pump&Crunch, I run a local, successful meal prep business, make and sell my healthy energy bars, called SQRLBars, in stores in Hou and shipped all over the US.

I have an online meal prep program called Prep School. I'm an in-home personal chef, host catering events here in the city, and run my blog/social channels - all of which center around healthy living and eating!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping my audience, in any way that I can, to eat healthier.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As the business grows, it's hard to manage it all on your own and sometimes even harder to hand off tasks to others.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. If you have an idea, run with it no matter what and have faith in yourself.
  2. Be consistent. It's KEY to success.
  3. LIVE your brand. YOU are the perfect example to showcase your product to your audience.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

You can find all things Pump&Crunch on my website.
