Tell us about yourself
I am Stefan Nelson, founder, and CEO of Puissance clothing. Born and raised in Dallas, TX. In my community, where I come from, we are dreamers. Dreams to be wealthy, successful, and give back. PUISSANCE brand started with a vision to help others gain confidence and to believe in themselves. That them too can achieve great things. I have always had a love for fashion and clothes. It was back in late 2017 when I had a group of culturally diverse friends. I said to one of them, “ I want to start my own clothing Brand. He stated, “you should; what will you call it?” I wanted a brand name that was powerful. I proceeded and asked him, what is power in French, PUISSANCE, he stated thought that was a different and catchy name. So from that moment, I was inspired to create my brand and vision behind this name. In March 2018, I filed paperwork for Puissance to make it official. The rest is to see.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As a business owner, my biggest accomplishment is that I have inspired and motivated others to strive for greatness. I have taught others how to start a successful business. Giving back and helping others is a major accomplishment for me. This is one of the main reasons most people start a company is to give back and make a change in the world.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Time management is the hardest for me as a business owner. With me still working my normal job, time can get away from you when it’s time to clock in for yourself. From checking inventory to sourcing, new products take a lot of time, especially minus errors and setbacks.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
The top three tips I would give are. First, don’t listen to anyone; follow your heart. To run a successful business, you would need a great team. A great team consists of everyone understanding the brand vision and knowing their position, so executing their assignments are effortless. Build a team of trustworthy individuals. Your team will win for you. Being and staying original and also keeping up with trends will scale your business to new heights. No idea is a bad idea. Just get started.
